When a person discovers inflammation of the kidney, most probably he or she is undergoing Lupus Nephropathy. In other words, we can say that Lupus Nephropathy is a renal inflammation caused due to the systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a disorder related to the immune system. Lupus Nephropathy can typically prove hazardous to the kidneys, brain, joints and skin.

Lupus Nephropathy is an autoimmune disorder. Autoimmune disorder is defined as a disorder in which the immune system of the body mistakes healthy organs and tissues as hazardous attackers in the body and damage them. This attacks of the invaders result into inflammation which can actually break and destroy the influenced organs and tissues. The cause of this autoimmune outcome in the body is not identified, but it is considered that lupus gets targeted by the various environmental aspects and probably develops a genetic predisposition.

Intensive Care Unit is the restricted area in the hospital for patients who are in the critical condiotion. Traumatic brain injury is associated with a profound suppression of the patient’s ability to fight infection. At the same time the patient also often suffers hyper-inflammation, due to the brain releasing glucocorticoids in response to the injury. New research published in BioMed Central’s open access journal Critical Care shows that including probiotics with nutrients, supplied via the patient’s feeding tube, increased interferon levels, reduced the number of infections, and even reduced the amount of time patients spent in intensive care.
In a small scale trial, based at North Sichuan Medical College and Hospital in China, 52 patients who had suffered traumatic brain injuries, and who were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), were either treated as usual or had their nutrition supplemented with probiotics.
Prof Jing-Ci Zhu, the supervisor of this study from the Third Military Medical University School of Nursing in China, explained, “Probiotic treatment appeared to swing the Th1/Th2 balance back towards normality and, in our study, had beneficial effects. Possibly due to the small size of our study there was no significant difference in the number of infections between the groups (9 for the probiotic group, 16 for the control patients).

The fungi of the Candida genus, known to millions of patients worldwide for their ability to cause serious infections, were once all thought to be asexual. Even after scientists discovered that the mating habits ofCandida albicans were many and varied, they remained convinced that many of the more infectious ones did not mate. Now with the first report that Candida tropicalis can mate sexually as well, the chastity of the whole genus comes into further doubt.
“I think the really asexual fungi are going to turn out to be the exception, rather than the rule,” said Richard Bennett, assistant professor of biology at Brown University and senior author of the report published in theProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The revelation that C. tropicalis mates sexually is not simply prurient. Some scientists, including Bennett, hypothesize that the pathogen’s mix of sexual behaviors may have evolved as a survival tactic. When things are going well, it may be best to reproduce asexually to keep a successful genome fairly stable. If conditions become hostile, then it makes sense to switch to sexual reproduction to accelerate the creation and proliferation of new, adaptive traits.

The first coronary artery bypass surgery was performed in the United States on May 2, 1960, at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Bronx Municipal Hospital Center by a team led by Dr. Robert Goetz and the thoracic surgeon, Dr. Michael Rohman with the assistance of Dr. Jordan Haller and Dr. Ronald Dee. In this technique the vessels are held together with circumferential ligatures over an inserted metal ring. The internal mammary artery was used as the donor vessel and was anastomosed to the right coronary artery. The actual anastomosis with the Rosenbach ring took fifteen seconds and did not require cardiopulmonary bypass. The disadvantage of using the internal mammary artery was that, at autopsy nine months later, the anastomosis was open, but an atheromatous plaque had occluded the origin of the internal mammary that was used for the bypass

Dr. René Favaloro, an Argentine surgeon, achieved a physiologic approach in the surgical management of coronary artery disease—the bypass grafting procedure—at the Cleveland Clinic in May 1967. His new technique used a saphenous vein autograft to replace a stenotic segment of the right coronary artery. Later, he successfully used the saphenous vein as a bypassing channel, which has become the typical bypass graft technique we know today; in the U.S., this vessel is typically harvested endoscopically, using a technique known as endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH). Soon Dr. Dudley Johnson extended the bypass to include left coronary arterial systems. In 1968, Doctors Charles Bailey, Teruo Hirose and George Green used the internal mammary artery instead of the saphenous vein for the grafting.

Heart operations are one of the most delicate and complicated medical operations. One little mistake will put the patient’s life at risk. It is always a good advice that doctors and all medical practitioners should always do their best and perform with the heart.
null
CABG surgery – an acronym often referred to as ‘cabbage’ or more simply referred to as a ‘heart bypass’, is used to treat coronary artery disease. It uses a blood vessel which is commonly taken from another area of the chest, arm or leg to bypass an artery which may have become blocked or has become too narrow to function efficiently.
The reason the operation is performed is that if a vital artery becomes blocked or is too narrow, it restricts the supply of oxygen and other vital nutrients to the heart which often results in severe pains in the chest called angina and, by having a heart bypass, it improves the flow of blood to the heart which reduces the chances of you suffering a heart attack.
This is actually is a surgical procedure performed to relieve angina and reduce the risk of death from coronary artery disease. Arteries or veins from elsewhere in the patient’s body are grafted to the coronary arteries to bypass atherosclerotic narrowing and improve the blood supply to the coronary circulation supplying the myocardium (heart muscle).

We all know about the old adage which pertains about health and apple. This is the saying which goes like this: “An apple a day makes the doctor away”.
null
Apples in traditional medicines were called the body’s broom. This concept of apples as a cleansing food is now supported by our emerging understanding of fiber, antioxidants and fruit flavoniods. Some of the health benefits of apples are as follow:
It helps in reducing blood cholesterol. Studies have shown that eating apples can lower blood cholesterol, especially bad LDL-cholesterol. Pectin a soluble fiber in apples is thought to play a key part in this, but the effects is stronger from eating whole apples than from extracted pectin powder alone.
It has been traditionally used for arthritis, rheumatism and gout. The apple’s benefits for digestion and the disposal of unwanted substances from the body support its reputation for helping joint problems. This may be due to a combination of actions: fruits acids improve digestion, the antioxidants effect of the flavonoid quercetin and pectin’s ability to increase elimination.Apples also help in improving defenses against illness.
